Pals gather to remember Sean

- ROSS THOMSON

Heartbroken friends of a teenager who died after an incident in Wishaw have held a balloon release in his memory.

Sean Ford, 15, was found seriously injured at a property in Craigneuk the early hours of Saturday, March 7.

He was rushed to Wishaw General Hospital and died shortly after.

His death is being treated as murder by police.

Sean’s heartbroken pals let off balloons at Belhaven Park in Wishaw last Wednesday as a tribute to the teen.

It comes after a fundraiser was set up to raise funds for his funeral.

Organiser Eve Rielly wrote: “Raising this money for our boy’s funeral.

“Just a wee help to the family for bringing up such a wee star! Love you forever Sean.”

In a statement, Sean’s family said: “Sean was such an outgoing and intelligent young boy who brought laughter and smiles to everyone around him.

“He was always making sure others were okay. He was truly one in a million and we will never forget his big beautiful smile. “He will be forever young. “We are overwhelmed with the amount of support from his friends and would like to thank every last one of them. “He was so cruelly and cowardly taken away from us and we will get justice for Sean.

“We are so heartbroken and ask to be left to grieve.”

A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with Sean’s death and appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Sommerville, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, added: “I want to thank the community for their support so far.

“I’d continue to urge anyone who has information which could be relevant, or who was in the area at this time, to speak to a local officer or call 101 and quote incident 0785 of March 7.

“Information can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
