Thanks to Kathleen for her care home work

A Wishaw care home worker is now back at work helping elderly residents after contracting coronavirus.

Kathleen Kilpatrick has just returned to work after being forced to self-isolate due to testing positive for COVID-19.

But after being laid low, Kathleen is delighted to be back at work at Kirknowe Care Home.

Daughter Andrea Murdoch said: “She has worked at Kirknowe for a good few years and she enjoys it.

“A few weeks ago she was really ill and we were worried.

“In the end my sister had to take her down to the hospital. We weren’t sure what it was but in the end she was tested for coronavirus and it came back positive. I’m really missing her but she was one of the lucky ones who survived.

“We have a family group chat so she was keeping in touch with all of us but we are glad she’s back to feeling a lot better.”

To thank Kathleen for returning to work, Andrea nominated her for our Say it with Flowers competition.

And we surprised Kathleen with a bouquet of flowers thanks to our friends at Pixie’s Petals in Newmains at her home in Pather.

Andrea is hopeful lockdown will be over soon and things can return to some kind of normality.

And she is holding onto hope that she will be able to enjoy a family holiday later this year with Kathleen.

“Mum is 65 this year and she will be retiring soon,” said Andrea.

“We had booked up to go to Tenerife for New Year and I’m hoping we might be able to go. You never know.

“The last few weeks have been a nightmare. As well as not being able to see my mum, two of my boys have got autism so it’s been particularly difficult.”
