New coach boost for Newmains starlets

-

Dean Beaton can’t wait to get working on Newmains United’s stars of the future after he was appointed the club’s new development team co-manager.

The former Dunfermline Ladies boss has recently relocated to Newmains and will work alongside academy chief John Campbell to help produce top talent.

Beaton said:“After moving from the east coast to Newmains I was keen to get back involved with a local club and to share my football coaching experience with the local community.

“Being from Edinburgh you lack a lot of personal community spirit when working within a club, as it’s not so much location-based but skill and pedigree-based.

“The opportunity to work with youngsters to help them develop and deliver a pathway into the senior game was the exact challenge I feel I needed at this time of my coaching career.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside John Campbell and the rest of the Newmains United committee.”

Beaton has also managed the likes of Tollcross Thistle Amateurs and Edinburgh South Ladies and was most recently working at Newmains Hammers.

United were recently part of a joint move from the West Region juniors to the new West of Scotland League setup, just outside of the SPFL pyramid.

The incoming development boss hopes that the new West of Scotland League era will give the youngsters the platform for a future career.

United are placed in the tier seven conference system just below the new West of Scotland League top division.

They will enter into Conference B when the season is allowed to resume.

Beaton added:“The recent news and development of the newly formed West of Scotland League and the new club structure leaves me excited for the future.

“I feel I can use the experiences I have gained over a 20-year coaching career and bring them into a great tightly formed village football club that has ambitions which match my own.”
