Manis attacked inpark

Detectives are appealing for informatio­n and witnesses following a serious assault in Motherwell.

At around 5pm, on Friday, June 26, a 49-year-old man was in Calder Park, sitting by the water, when he was approached by two men.

The men were talking to him and then they attacked him with a bladed weapon.

Emergency services attended and the man was taken to University Hospital Wishaw where he was treated for his injuries. He has since been released.

There is limited informatio­n on the suspects at this stage.

One is white, around 5 ft 8 inches in height, with a slim build and short, dark coloured hair. The second suspect is white, around 5 ft 6 inches in height, with a stocky build and dark coloured hair.

Detective Constable Alison Thomson said: “We are unsure what the motive is for this attack. I am appealing for the other people who were in Calder Park around the time of the incident to contact us with any informatio­n.

“Perhaps you saw the men approach the victim or saw the two suspects run off.

“If you have any informatio­n or details which could assist our investigat­ion, please do get in touch.

“Any small piece of informatio­n could be significan­t as we continue our enquiries.”
