New homes plan for Bonkle
Plans have been submitted for new homes in Bonkle.
The proposals for 38 houses were sent to North Lanarkshire Council’s planning department for the site lying to the north of the former Comliebank Hotel in Bonkle Road.
A total of 34 of the proposed homes would access via an existing access from Bonkle Road with the remaining four houses accessed via Bonds Drive.
In its planning statement, submitted to the council, planners Andrew Bennie Limited stated: “Given that the proposed development of this section of the site is for residential purposes, of a scale, density and form which is in keeping with that of the existing residential are, it is considered that there is no reasonable basis that this aspect of the overall development would be in any way detrimental to the established residential amenity of the surrounding area.
“It is submitted that the application proposals can be fully and reasonably justified against the provisions of the approved development plan.”
So far only one member of the public has commented on the proposals.
The objector states: “The increase in traffic it will create on an already busy road will reduce safety for pedestrians and other road users. If granted there will be heavy construction vehicles using the road during the construction of the development.
“The position of the suggested junction from the development on to Bonkle Road does not provide an adequate line of vision towards cars approaching from the left over the bridge at Bonkle. The development involves clearing a woodland site that is of significant natural beauty and is in common with the local area and contributes to a rural feeling that makes the area an attractive place to live.”
