Boss insists bus services returning to pre-Covid levels

Public transport services in Wishaw and the surroundin­g areas are beginning to return to pre-coronaviru­s levels.

Bus operator JMB Travel which runs local services in Lanarkshir­e announced that weekday timetables were running at“near normal”from Monday this week with enhanced hygiene measures in place on vehicles.

Service 41 linking Lanark, Carluke, Wishaw, Motherwell and Hamilton, and service 56 which links Shotts, Allanton, Bonkle, Newmains, Wishaw, Motherwell and North Motherwell were both increased and are now running every 15 minutes on weekdays.

They will also operate every 30 minutes on Saturdays.

The family owned company based in Newmains has introduced increased cleaning and hygiene measures including hand sanitiser on board all buses, touch points being disinfecte­d throughout the day and a deep clean of every vehicle each evening.

Jennifer Bell, Business Manager at JMB Travel, is delighted services are beginning to return to some kind of normality.

She said:“We are delighted to be returning to near normal weekday timetables in preparatio­n for schools returning and a further easing of lockdown restrictio­ns.”

“We have introduced enhanced cleaning and hygiene measures and will continue to monitor the amount of customers using our buses and add more buses where necessary.”

“Everyone at JMB Travel is delighted to be returning to a more normal level of service.

“We can’t wait to welcome all of our regular customers back onboard.”
