Newmains residents are being encouraged to be part of a public interactive exhibition into a shared primary schools campus.

The pre-application consultation is now live with members of the community being encouraged to have their say at a public interactive exhibition tonight (Wednesday) from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

A design presentation for elected members on the proposed new joint campus for Newmains and St Brigid’s Primary Schools has already been held.

Independent Newmains councillor Robert McKendrick is encouraging locals to get involved.

He said:“The new schools will be great for the pupils and a better working environment for the teachers and other members of staff.

“We have been waiting on these new schools for a long time and I have seen for myself some of the excellent schools built in my ward compared to what we have currently in Newmains.

“I know the pupils, teachers and janitors have already seen the presentation and they must be delighted with what they have seen.”

Local Labour councillors expressed their delight after attending the presentation.

Councillor Louise Roarty said:“The facility proposed looks fantastic in its design, incorporating everything a modern state of the art school requires.

“The new schools will make a tremendous difference, to the young people of Newmains and the wider community.”

Councillor Nicky Shevlin added:“Louise and I are determined to continue fighting for our community’s fair share of our administration’s ambitious plans for

North Lanarkshire.

“We look forward to continuing work with the council and the local community to ensure this joint campus is delivered as soon as possible.”

You can take part in the public interactive exhibition between 4.30pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday, August 5, by logging onto www. nsbcampus.scot
