Sport’s making areturn
Wishaw Sports Centre is set to reopen after being shut for months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Wishaw is one of six centres across North Lanarkshire due to open its doors to the public from Monday, September 14.
Others include the facility at Ravenscraig and the Time Capsule in Coatbridge.
In a statement on its website, NL Leisure said: “We are delighted to announce that some of our facilities will be opening from September 14 as part of a phased approach.
“We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back and have been working very hard in the background with North Lanarkshire Council and all partners to ensure all relevant safety measures and procedures are in place and in line with the most up to date government advice.
“We have not finalised dates for the next phase of reopening as of yet, but as soon as we have further details, we will update our website.”
NL Leisure added that if you are a direct debit member, you will automatically restart your membership from Monday, September 14, so you can start using any of the venues from this date.
Memberships will restart on September 14.
Meanwhile, NL Leisure have announced many of its kids sports classes will return later this month.
Most of the organisation’s Sport Development programmes and classes will be opening from Monday, September 14.
On its website NL Leisure states: “We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back and have been working very hard to ensure all relevant safety measures and procedures are in place and in line with the most up to date government advice.
“Please note that some classes have been moved to a different venue.
“If your child’s sport class has not been moved and is not able to resume, your direct debit will remain frozen for now.”
NL Leisure has also provided an update for football hires.
It states that the organisation is currently working on a timeline for teams to return to regular bookings following the guidance set out in the SFA’s phase 3 ‘return to football’ protocols.
From September 11, football bookings may be available for teams to return to friendly matches following the SFA’s matchday protocols, details of which are still to be released. Five-a-side and seven-a-side matches will be available from September 21.
