Eat Out scheme is set to be ‘extended’
As the Chancellor’s Eat Out to Help Out deal comes to an end, a number of Wishaw restaurants are going to be slashing their prices to continue the offer.
The scheme saw diners save 50 per cent, up to £10, off meals and soft drinks in restaurants on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays during August.
And it proved popular, as restaurants saw a significant boost in business during the days the scheme was valid.
Fifty restaurants in Motherwell and Wishaw saw 50,000 discounted meals over the month.
This meant that customers saved a total of £316,000, an average of £6.32 per meal.
To continue the savings, a number of restaurants in the area have said they will continue cutting their prices for the next month.
The Commercial Hotel in Wishaw will continue the scheme for the whole of September, offering customers the same benefits as the month before.
They have chosen to do this as a thank-you to their customers for showing their support.
They have said that customers praised the hotel for looking after their safety and for providing friendly reassurance.
They also recognised that for some customers it took an extra effort to visit their venues due to the nervousness they felt about dining out after the Covid-19 lockdown.
As a result, the Group felt compelled to give something extra to their customers.
David Tracey, managing director, Manorview Hotels & Leisure Group, who own The Commerical, said: “The EOTHO scheme has been a successful initiative. We have welcomed many customers, old and new, into our venues and our team has a renewed sense of purpose.
“We have noted a nervousness among some people as they venture back outside. This has made us appreciate the efforts our customers have made to support us.
“As a result, we have decided to extend the EOTHO offer. We want to offer something extra to our customers to thank them and to help them enjoy the benefits of this scheme a little while longer.”
Anther group of restaurants that are continuing the scheme is Toby Carvery, who will keep it going for the first two weeks of September.
And customers at Wetherspoons will see discounts across the menu on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays until November.
