Nazisign shocker

-

Police are investigating vandalism at a Wishaw primary school after a swastika was spray painted on a wall.

Enquiries are underway to trace whoever is responsible for the graffiti within the grounds of Netherton Primary.

The Nazi symbol was sprayed on to a wall of the school building in Netherton Road at some point between September 3 and 4.

Police in Wishaw have also received a number of complaints from members of the public about the use of off-road motor bikes in Newmains and Shotts.

Sergeant Lorna Hinshelwood of the Community Policing Team, said: “We are receiving numerous complaints in the Branchalmuir Crescent and surrounding areas of Newmains. Shotts is also heavily plagued by the bikes.

“To date the Community Team have seized a quantity of bikes and reported numerous persons for road traffic offences.

“I would strongly advise those responsible to reconsider the risks posed to others and themselves.

“This is dangerous and illegal when riding on land, pavements and without the required licence and insurance.

“Police are taking a robust approach to those caught. Anyone with information on those responsible are asked to provide details to police.”

Information is also being sought following a recent spike in incidents of youths throwing stones and debris at moving buses.

These have been reported in the Dyfrig area of Shotts and Craigneuk in Wishaw and pose a serious risk of injury, or worse, to bus drivers and passengers.

Enquiries are also underway to trace those responsible and patrols in both areas have been stepped up in a bid to prevent further incidents.
