Ex beauty queen Nic now book best seller

- ROSS THOMSON

A Wishaw beauty queen, turned life coach, is now taking on the literary world with a best-seller.

Nicola Creen was one of several contributors to a new book which has been rocketing up the charts and earning five-star reviews on Amazon.

The Girls Who Refused to Quit by Cassandra Farren shares the powerful, real-life journeys of 14 inspirational women.

They have all overcome adversity and now want to make a difference with their stories.

Nicola was delighted to be able get involved in the project.

She said: “Last year I was speaking at an event in London and got a voicemail from Cassandra.

“We had a chat on the phone which lasted about two hours. We really hit it off and she asked me to get involved.

“I was working from home during lockdown providing one-to-one sessions online so I hadn’t had the chance to properly sit down and write.

“I managed to sort out some childcare for the kids and then I sat in my garden in the sun and just wrote and wrote.

“It just came pouring out of me. Once I started I couldn’t stop. It opened up some old wounds but it was very cathartic.”

Nicola battled back from being bullied as a teenager to become a top model culminating in her win in the Miss Caledonia event in 2012.

She is now a qualified life coach and mental health expert and now has a wide range of clients from celebrities to school kids.

She also contributes on radio and television for the BBC as well as helping mental health charities and regularly talks to school pupils across the country on the importance of good mental health.

She added: “All of the contributors all want to help people and have been through a lot of different life experiences.

“The book’s only been out for a few weeks but the reviews have been great. The feedback has been incredible I remember getting the book through my door and it was surreal reading your own words.”

The Girls Who Refused to Quit costs £12.99 and is available on Amazon and a number of other retailers.
