Top students celebrate success
Coltness High students celebrated exam success and handed out the annual Dux awards.
Seven pupils in S5 last year got five As at Higher with
Ashna Nauman following in her big sister’s footsteps to get her name on the Dux Board by getting an aggregate of more Band 1s than the other six within her age group.
Eleven pupils in S4 got seven As at National 5s in S4 with Jasleen Kaur and Ellie Weir getting more Band 1s than the other nine in this cohort to set them aside from them, therefore they achieved the joint Junior Dux title.
Jasleen, as well as studying her Nat 5s, also studied Punjabi at GCSE level at home, achieving an A*.
Four boys are from headteacher John McGilp’s school football team who are amongst the cohort of 11 who achieved seven As at Nat 5 in S4.
Mr McGilp said:“I am thoroughly delighted not only with the school’s exam results in general this year but specifically with these individuals achieving straight As.
“You couldn’t ask for a more hard-working and dedicated group of young people.
“They are a delight to work with and the whole school community are really proud of what they have achieved. “They are a great advert for what can be achieved if you put in a great effort and set yourself goals.
“Of particular interest to me this year whilst looking at the exam results were the results of my S4 football team.
“I have got to know them particularly well given my involvement with them since S1 and I am so proud of what they have all achieved off the field this year.
“It was brilliant to see four of them get seven As this year and to listen to their aspirations of future careers.”
