Weigh to go Gillian

- GREGOR FARQUHARSON

Super slimmer Gillian Radigan has lost an incredible 12 stones.

The 47-year-old tipped the scales at almost 23 stones on her 40th birthday but now feels amazing after shedding so much weight.

Gillian admitted that when she looked at her birthday pictures she saw how miserable she looked in the snaps.

She then decided that she wouldn’t feel like that for her 50th birthday party and started her weight loss journey.

Gillian went on to lose her weight by following Slimming World’s food optimising extra easy plan.

This encourages members to satisfy their appetite on healthy foods like pasta, rice, potato, lean meat, fish, fruit and veg and more.

Slimmers are able to lose weight without ever going hungry and still enjoy treats without feeling deprived, so there no need to miss out on any of their favourites.

Gillian said: “I didn’t want to celebrate by having a party – the thought being the centre of attention and looking for an outfit in a size 28 just wasn’t an option for me.

“I started losing weight at home by calorie counting and started exercising regularly and I did lose a few stones but I was constantly hungry and my weight loss slowed down.

“Being a serial dieter I had previously been a member of Slimming World a number of times and I decided to give it another go.

“I went along to the Newarthill Thursday night class with then consultant Eileen Allison and I can honestly say I have never looked back.”

Replacing fast food with low syn alternatives, Gillian said she enjoyed the home made meals more than she did take-out,

Gillian said she used to hate going clothes shopping and avoided theme park rides while on holiday but now lives her life to the fullest.

“Slimming World has changed my life for ever I am so much happier.

“When I’m on a night out I’m on the dance floor not sitting in a corner watching everybody else having fun.

“I’ve also made friends for life which is an added bonus.”

Now Gillian has trained as a consultant for the UK’s largest group-based weight loss organisation,at their national academy in Derbyshire.

Gillian says “I’d love to inspire other people to lose weight too and show that whether you’ve got a little or a lot of weight to lose, slimming down can make a big difference to how you feel.”

Gillian’s Slimming World group will be held at The Club in Newarthill every Thursday at 7pm.
