NewWOSL divisionplan explained

-

The West of Scotland League have unveiled a new format which will see their league conferences split this season.

Instead of regular divisions, the new-look tier six and seven will be split into two groups if green lit in a vote by the clubs.

It will mean a change to how the season will shape up for Wishaw, Shotts, Carluke Rovers and Newmains this season.

The Premier Division is to be divided into two mini-divisions of 10 teams with home and away games to be played between the sides.

Following the 18 games the clubs will face each other, but will only play one game against teams outside of their original 10-team rank.

The league winners and relegations will then be decided on points, with the two sections being brought together.

Additionally, all of the tier seven conferences have been divvied up into two leagues.

The first phase of the new league will see the each team face their group rivals home and away, before each team faces off against one another for a one-off game.

However, the amount of games that will be played still remain unclear, with the reverse fixtures to be played if there is enough time to complete the full campaign.

Additionally, Conference C and specifically Group 1, has less clubs than other tier seven sides.

There initial round of games will only come to 12, while all other groups comes to 14.

The league is scheduled to kick-off on October 10, however WOSFL chairman Dave McKenna stated last week that the start date was“unlikely.”
