Leadingimages underscrutiny
Members of Motherwell Photographic Society had the opportunity to look at sections of the Scottish Photographic Federation (SPF) portfolio at their recent virtual meeting.
These images were from the colour and the mono print sections.
The SPF portfolio is made up of the top images from all 31 clubs entering this year’s competition.
Scores achieved by Motherwell Photographic Society’s entries placed the club mid-table at 15th out of 31 clubs in the colour print section, with an image from Linda Greenhill scoring 17 points and another from William Graham scoring 18 points.
In the monochrome print competition, the club fared much better, coming ninth out of 31.
William Graham had two images selected that both scored 18 points.
In total there were 244 colour images and 144 mono images entered into the two sections from the 474 and 662 images across all print and digital submissions.
In common with many other competitions affected by Covid-19, the print sections were based on digital image submissions, but this didn’t prevent members enjoying a wonderful evening of photographs from across Scotland and beyond, ranging from portraits, sports, still life, travel and landscapes.
All images in the portfolio were awarded a score by the judges of 17 points or higher.
Until further notice, all meetings of the soiciety will be conducted virtually.
As always, anyone with an interest in photography, no matter their level, is welcome to attend.
