She’s a mum in a million

kitchens, before settling down and raising her family. She then worked as a bar person in The Corner in Wishaw, and latterly, as a manager in The Cottage in Newarthill, before she was forced to give up work due to ill health.

Kerry said: “My mum was training to be a chef at Motherwell College. She had a couple of jobs in kitchens until me and my brothers, Steven and Aaron came along, and then she started bar work. This year has been terrible for her because of how ill she is, but she’s an inspiratio­n to us all. My mum is an amazing lady and is the strongest person I know.”

Kerry explained: “She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis this year. My wee girl Hannah is my mum’s pride and joy and she is upset that she can’t do as much for her now. She is my biggest inspiratio­n, especially because she looks after my wee brother.”

And when Kerrie told us about Caroline’s nomination, we were delighted to help, presenting her with these beautiful flowers, courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals.
