Braves boss urges SFA to set the date

Wishaw ace Turnbull is “an inspiration”

Caledonian Braves boss Ricky Waddell says it’s important that Lowland League clubs are given a time-scale for the return of football.

Scottish FA bosses are in meetings this week with representatives of various lower leagues, with the current suspension due to expire on Sunday, and Waddell hopes they get some good news.

The Braves haven’t kicked a ball since a 3-2 defeat to BSC Glasgow on NewYear’s Day and have been waiting patiently on the sidelines for a return.

Waddell said:“Hopefully we get some sort of time-scale. “The lockdown this time around has been far more difficult, I don’t know if everybody’s got the energy for it these days now.

“I think the SFA, to be fair, have handled things well over the piece with the Lowland League – that will hopefully lead to positive discussions and, all being well, we’ll be given a date to come back – that’s what my ideal would be.

“If there are different parameters around that fair enough, we just need to adhere to those.”

One of the options being considered for the fifth tier is to have a league‘split’, the same as the Scottish Premiership currently operates .

Sides in the top and bottom half of the table would break up and play the final games of the season among their minigrouping to determine the final league standings.

Clubs in SPFL League One and Two are expected to be back training on March 2, but it is understood the Lowland League will be a bit further behind.
