Pamela is NHS angel

- JEAN WARD

A selfless and caring nurse who goes“above and beyond”for others has been nominated by her loving niece for her hard work and dedication to the NHS throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

Pamela Buddy, 49, a nurse/manager from Wishaw, was nominated for our Say It With Flowers award by Rachel Farquharson.

Pamela lives in Overtown with her partner, Alan Struthers, seven-yearold son Matthew and step children, Lindsay and Craig.

She attended Garrion Academy, and after leaving school she completed her general nursing training at the former Law Hospital, before going on to train in paediatric nursing at Yorkhill Hospital in Glasgow.

She continued to dedicate her life to the nursing profession and became a ward sister at University Hospital Wishaw, and was later promoted to ward manager, and worked in the hospital for over 10 years.

She latterly was appointed to her current post of nurse/ manager at the NHS out of hours centre in Douglas Street, Hamilton, where she has worked for almost two years.

Rachel said: “My auntie Pamela goes above and beyond for the NHS, and always put her patients and staff first.

“She is a very caring friend and has helped her friends who have had to self-isolate or shield by doing their shopping and taking care of their children.

“She has also been home schooling Matthew, as well as working crazy hours. She is an amazing person, but sometimes she forgets to look after herself.

“She is so kind and caring and dedicated to her job. I’m expecting a baby in March and she’s been really supportive.”

And when Rachel told us about Pamela’s nomination, we were delighted to oblige, presenting her with these beautiful flowers, courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals.

“She is a great person, but I don’t think she realises how much we all appreciate her,” said Rachel.
