Positives - and the negatives
Members of Motherwell Photogrpahic Society were treated to a talk and presentation – Never Underestimate an Old Woman with a Camera – by Sally Sallet at their meeting on February 4.
A well-qualified photographer with ARPS, AFIAP and CPAGB qualifications, Sally began her photography journey at the age of seven, taking mainly images of friends and family and moving on over the years from film to digital.
She currently shoots with a micro Four Thirds camera and obtains excellent results.
Sally has a very eclectic approach to photography and her presentation covered genres from sports, portraits, nature, architecture, still-life, fine art and street photography. Sally’s work can be viewed on her Facebook site at pineapplypix.
President Linda Greenhill informed the meeting that despite some images achieving good marks, the club unfortunately finished last of 18 in the SPF Ian Bowie Competition due to the incredibly high standard of the entries.
The draw has been made for next year’s Image League and Motherwell have been drawn against East Kilbride Photographic Society and Hamilton Camera Club.
The club was also looking forward to a four-way Print Battle competition against Carluke, Lanark and Hamilton and looking forward to seeing some high quality images. Again, due to Covid 19 restrictions, this will take place via zoom and is effectively a digital image competition.
Until further notice Motherwell Photographic Society’s meetings will be conducted virtually. on a Thursday evening at 7.30pm.
Anyone with an interest in photography, no matter their level, is welcome to attend.
