Miracles come true as Mark hands over £1500

- SHIRLEY BARTYNEK

A big-hearted Motherwell dad has donated an impressive £1500 to charity thanks to donations received from his recent lockdown singing gigs.

People from around the world have tuned in on Facebook Live to hear Mark Findlay belt out tunes from his living room on Saturday nights.

Mark, who is originally from Eddlewood in Hamilton, has brought thousands together during the pandemic.

And he loves seeing the joy that his singing brings to others as they join in with him.

Every show is also dedicated to frontline workers from the National Health Service.

Mark said: “I have people viewing from all over the world.

This included people living in America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Iceland.

“I encourage people to upload videos of them in their living rooms as I like to see what people do when they are watching me.”

Mark is a chef at Firtrees Nursery in Motherwell, and also used to sing in pubs throughout Lanarkshire before the first Covid lockdown began.

Since last March, he has been entertaining people most Saturday nights with his streamed pandemic performance.

With thousands of people stuck inside their homes, Mark has continued to be blown away by all those who have tuned in.

He said: “I held a Hogmanay show live from 10.30pm to 2am and it was free for all to view, although donations were taken for a local charity in Motherwell called The Miracle Foundation, which raised £1500.

“I was delighted this week to finally hand over a cheque to this wonderful charity.”

The Miracle Foundation Scio believe every child should be able to reach their full life potential.

They support children and young people who have experienced bereavement and trauma through counselling and arts therapies.

And they also provide a safe space for young people to recover and restore their mental and emotional well-being and health.
