‘Wonderful’ to have the kids back in class

-

Children were buzzing with excitement last week as the phased return of school began.

Primary 1 to 3 pupils and nursery pupils started back at Scottish schools as the country slowly starts to move back to a more normal life.

Cheery pupils were excited to be back at school for the first time this year – and teachers also enjoyed seeing their pupils’faces back in the school building.

Kay Barr, head teacher at Wishaw Academy Primary, said:“Our P1to 3 children were all delighted to be back at school and the staff were very happy to see them too.

“The children were excited when they were coming through the gates on Monday and keen to see their friends and teachers.

“It is great to see one section of the school returning to‘almost normal’, as this has not been an easy time for anyone.

“We are very grateful for the support given by our families during the home-schooling period.

“Safety is of the utmost importance for us and we will continue to do all we can to keep staff and pupils as safe as possible.”

Anne Marie Pearson, head teacher at St Ignatius Primary and Nursery, said: “It’s been wonderful to welcome our pupils back to school this week – there is a real sense of happiness, pride and relief that we are beginning to get back to some form of normality.

“We have clear protocols in place to ensure that everyone is kept safe and everyone is pulling together to do just that. I’d like to thank pupils, parents and staff for all their support and co-operation.”
