Sean will always be remembered

- ROSS THOMSON

Friends and family of a “one in a million” Wishaw teenager have paid tribute to him one year on from his tragic death.

Fifteen-year-old Sean Ford was remembered on Sunday afternoon at a short sociallydistanced event at Belhaven Park.

Balloons were let off and friends spoke of their fond memories of Sean.

His mum, Kellyann Berry, thanked everyone for attending.

She said: “It was a really good turnout and it was so nice to see all of Sean’s friends there.

“I haven’t seen many of them this year because of the lockdown but they are always sending messages asking how I’m doing and keeping in touch.

“I’m so grateful to them all for helping me and just being great friends to Sean.

“I went up to the cemetery later on and there were about 30 or 40 people there seeing Sean.

“It just shows he will always be remembered.”

Sean was seriously injured during an incident in Charles Street, Craigneuk.

He was rushed to the nearby University Hospital Wishaw but died a short time later.

In a statement at that time, Sean’s family said: “Sean was such an outgoing and intelligent young boy who brought laughter and smiles to everyone around him.

“He was always making sure others were okay.

“He was truly one in a million and we will never forget his big beautiful smile. “He will be forever young. “We are overwhelmed with the amount of support from his friends and would like to thank every last one of them.”

Sean attended St Aidan’s High School in Wishaw and headteacher Claire Connelly said the whole school had been devastated by his death.

She said: “Sean was a much-loved member of the St Aidan’s High community.

“He had very positive relationships with staff and pupils and an infectious smile.”

Kellyann admits this year has been incredibly difficult after losing Sean.

But she insists she would never have got through the struggles without the support of Sean’s friends who continue to remember him and support his family through the difficult days.

She added: “I have had a lot of people supporting me over these past few months.

“All of Sean’s friends still keep in touch with me.

“They are always asking after me and sending me messages and getting me through each day.

“I’m at the cemetery every day and I always meet someone up there. We won’t forget him that’s for sure.”
