Police i n Wishaw are appealing for witnesses to two incidents in quick succession.

The first of them took place at an address on Glenclella­nd Road in Craigneuk.

The elderly victim was woken up by the sound of her front door being knocked at 4.10am on Saturday, March 20.

The woman residing there went to see who was at the door and as she approached a glass panel of the door was smashed before the unknown person ran away.

Sergeant Jim Mutter, of Wishaw Police Office, is appealing for any witnesses who may have seen suspicious persons on the street or who may have CCTV or dashcams in their vehicles which could help identify the perpetrato­r.

An appeal is also being made for witnesses following a housebreak­ing on Banavie Road, Newmains that took place between Friday the 19th and Saturday the 20th of March.

The householde­r had left the property on Friday morning and upon returning on Saturday evening found that the living room and kitchen windows had been smashed and furniture in the house damaged. Items stolen include a 32 inch Toshiba television.

Sergeant Mutter is appealing to neighbours who may have seen or heard the windows being smashed or anyone who has been offered a T V for sale to get in touch with the police calling 101 quoting incident number 3200 of the 20th.
