Frozen forever in time
A picture can paint a thousand words – or so the saying goes – and this selection of artistic snaps from members of Motherwell Photographic Society certainly emphasises that point.
Club members have been resigned to meeting virtually but the restrictions and lockdown don’t seem to have stifled their artistic skills.
This page from top clockwise – Angelica - By William Graham; Icy Chains By Vikki Galloway; 8 swans - a - Swimming by Margaret Dewar; bottom right is Lady in Red by Linda Greenhill ; and bottom left has a similarly self explanatory title – Pink Rose – which was taken by Margaret Dewar. On the opposite page the main photograph View to a Colour Scheme was again taken by William Graham.
Bottom of the page left to right are, On The Head by Dominic Smith; Intensity by Brian Saberton; and the thought provoking Enslaved, a second offering from Dominic Smith.
At the society’s most recent virtual meeting they received a presentation from John Tisley, a member of Dorchester Camera Club and Devon & Dorset Camera Club. He kicked off with a selection of images from a World War Two reenactment that took place in the village he lives in that was used a staging area for D-Day.
He moved on to images of Finland and Iceland. Both countries can have as little as four hours of sunshine a day and never truly get dark. He often spends hours in temperatures as low as minus 20-30 degrees to get the photographs he wants.
