Slimming class visit reshaped Sandra’s life
When Sandra Armstrong walked through the doors of a Slimming World group to drop a couple of dress sizes for a wedding, she never dreamed she was about to embark on a life-changing journey.
Not only did she achieve her weight-loss goal and feel fabulous slipping on her size10 dress for her friend’s big day, she was also inspired to carve out a new career.
The 56-year-old from Carluke switched from shift work to office hours in her homecare job which enabled her to also start her own Slimming World evening group as a new consultant, helping others on their own path to weight loss.
Sandra said: “Everyone told me joining Slimming World could be life-changing – but I had no idea just how much.
“When I walked into my group for the first time, the atmosphere was buzzing. We were all there for the same reason and everyone really wanted to support and help each other.
“I’d never experienced anything like it and the consultant made everyone feel so excited about the journey ahead.”
Sandra dropped from a size 14 to 10 dress size and lost 1st 3lbs to reach her target t weight.
She said: “I felt so proud of myself and I’d never felt as good as I did at that wedding. I hadn’t been happy with the way I looked for years and I think I’d convinced myself I couldn’t shift the extra pounds.
“Slimming World gave me the confidence I needed to believe I could truly do it and before long I decided that I really wanted to be a bigger part of it – to help others the way y my consultant had helped me.”
Sandra’s husband David, 55, and daughter r Amy, 28, are so proud of her achievements, noticing a massive change in Sandra’s body y shape.
She added: “I get a real buzz when I see new w members at my group getting that very same feeling that I did when I joined, knowing there are so many possibilities ahead for each of f them and all the support you need to reach your goal is right here waiting.”
