Dear Editor,

Stroke really is such a cruel condition.

Sadly we have all heard of someone who has been affected by stroke and many people like me have tragically lost someone too.

Almost five years ago my wonderful Mum, Diana, suffered a severe stroke.

She died four weeks later. My mum was the most active, ‘full of life’ person I knew.

She loved life. She was my best friend and I miss her every day.

That’s why I want to ask your readers to take part in the Stroke Association’s, A Walk to Remember.

This wonderful event is a special way to celebrate the life of your loved one whilst raising money in their memory.

Simply pick a special place that is filled with memories, create your route and on June 27 take part in your own walk to remember to raise funds for the Stroke Association

Stroke strikes every five minutes in the UK, and there are around 128,000 survivors in Scotland living with its devastating effects who really need our help.

Like so many charities, the pandemic has drastically affected the Stroke Association’s income.

However the charity has still been supporting stroke survivors as much as they can with support and advice, while continuing to fund vital research into the condition.

Please join me and do something amazing in your loved one’s memory by taking part in A Walk to Remember.

It’s bound to be an emotional but amazing day for all of us that have lost someone to stroke.

Walk in their memory and raise funds to rebuild more lives after stroke.

Dear Editor,

At Cats Protection we have much to be grateful for.

This year has challenged us like never before but we have come through with greater focus and a renewed commitment to improving the welfare of cats and

supporting better cat ownership.

As we mark the anniversary of the first lockdown measures, we want to learn from our shared successes and experiences and acknowledge what we have achieved together.

One year ago we launched Hands-Free Homing, a pioneering online adoption process that has become the new normal.

Prospective owners pick a pet from our website and, after a chat with our adoption team, the cat is delivered to its new home.

This programme has been a triumph, allowing us to successfully match more than 20,000 cats with their forever homes to provide much-needed companionship.

Additionally, the number of cats returned by their new owner has gone down by a third.

We d o n o t u n d e re s t i m a t e t h i s incredible achievement and the dedication of everyone involved in helping us reach this milestone.

It is just one example of how our team of colleagues, volunteers and supporters have risen to every challenge and proven how we can progress by embracing change. Thanks to their hard work, cats in need continue to receive our support, even in these most trying times.

I would like to thank everyone at Cats Protection who has contributed to our response to extraordinary circumstances and who continues to be part of our outstanding team.

A driver exposed himself to young girls after asking them for directions to University Hospital Wishaw. Samuel Cowan, 39, was placed on the sex offenders’ register for three years when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

Extremely light sentencing.

The parents of these young girls must feel extremely let down by the criminal justice system!

He is being treated more like a victim than a criminal, no wonder so many people have lost faith in our Courts.

I could understand if these girls father’s sought their own true justice.

Wrong on all levels. A slap on the wrist for the naughty boy and off he goes again and next time it could be an even worse situation.

The full weight of the law is needed for creeps like this person.

A Wishaw mum says she’s been left in agony after suffering a severe reaction to her COVID jab. Leigh King had her first dose of the vaccine but was still in pain two weeks later.

I had a bad reaction but not that bad, a rash, temperature, sore all over just absolutely exhausted. I hope this woman feels better soon.
