Wishaw will kick-off their pre-season fixtures on June 12 with a friendly against derby rivals Shotts as they prepare for the “real start” of the West of Scotland League this season.
Boss Mark Daly will spend the next few weeks running the rule over some players who are coming in for training, but says he’s happy with the 16 or so players he has re-signed from last term, ahead of the clash with Shotts and further friendlies against Thorniewood United, Whitletts Vics, Armadale and Whitehill Welfare.
He said: “We’re all good, we’ve got everybody in, and we’ve got a few coming in for pre-season, so we’re all set for
going back on May 17.We’ve got 15, 16 just now, and probably looking at going to 18, maybe, so we need another two or three to come in, really.
“We have everybody signed up that we wanted to sign up, and a couple will come in.
“I’m delighted with the squad, to be honest, it’s a good start for us to be back.We had a big reshuffle last year, so this is the second year with a lot of the same boys again and I’m delighted that they all wanted to stay.
“We made the mistake last year wherewewentgung-howithgames, playedSaturday-Mondaywhenwe came back last season and ended up with nine injuries, so we’re just going to play on the Saturdays this time around and train during the week.”
After this season was deemed null and void amid the pandemic, Daly can’t wait to get stuck into the new league proper and says it’s like a new dawn.
He said: For me this is last season starting over again and I’m really looking forward to it, having all the big guns back as well.
“Obviously you concentrate on your own stuff, but you’ll see how that Premier League will pan out with the big guns back, and in our conference you’ve got teams like Neilston, who have done really well, so it will be interesting, it will be good.”
