NewmainsUnitedhavemovedquickly to snap up Chris MacIntyre fromWishaw.

Defender MacIntyre, 34, spent 13 years with his former club but decided to move away from Beltane Park for the newcampaign.

Co-boss Paul Davies had been keen to add MacIntyre’s wealth of experience to the United backline and is thrilled to have completed more early business.

He said:“It’s brilliant to get Chris on board. With 13 years atWishaw he’s an experienced defender. It’s a position we’d been looking to build on.

“We’d lost Scott Cumming so we see him as a straight replacement. It was a case of the opportunity coming up after Chris had decided to leaveWishaw.

“We thought it would be a great opportunity to bring him in for a chat and see if he’d be interested and he ended up signing straight away!”

Newmainshavebeenworking tirelessly on and off the pitch to advance the club ahead of theWest of Scotland League campaign starting in July.

Davies hopes it will be an appealing prospect for potential signings.

He said:“When we brought Chris up to theclubweshowedhimwhatwewere doing, what we were trying to achieve and where we wanted to go. He’s seen the improvements here over the last couple of years and is delighted to sign.”

Davies recently announced the re-singing of 15 current players and is now eyeing some fresh faces.

Headded:“We’vespokentotwowho are experienced at this level and I hope to get that done with them this week.”
