Martin hits top gear as a truck spotter
A young Wishaw boy has found joy in an interesting and different hobby.
Matthew Martin, 14, has taken up truck spotting and has become popular across social media for his truck photos and videos.
Taking up the hobby around a year ago, Martin has fallen in love with trucks and truck spotting and frequently visits truck yards to see and take pictures p of them.
Martin’s dad,
Raymond, has been supportive of the new hobby his son has taken up.
He told the Wishaw Press: “He has been truck spotting for about a year and regularly visits truck yards and spots trucks on the A71 and M74.
“Locally he has visited Stewart Nicholls in Shotts and Richard Murray Recovery in Overtown.
“He enjoys visiting the truck yards and they treat him really well. Sometimes they use his photos and videos and they’ll give him some m merchandise with the company’s lo logo on it.
“Some of his videos on Tik Tok ha have gotten really popular and have re received nearly 20,000 views.”
Recently, Martin visited an Ov Oversized truck movement from La Lanarkshire Welding. This requires es escort vehicles to help transport the lo load as it is so large.
“The bigger and more unusual is be best for Martin, that’s what he loves,” sa said Raymond.
“He went to visit this one at La Lanarkshire Welding and took lots of pi p pictures and videos of the load coming ou out u and being escorted.
“The company transporting the lo load o contacted Mathew to be sent the ph photographs h and for his permission to use them.
“They were so happy with them, th they are sending him some free m merchandise.”
Matthew doesn’t plan on giving up hi his hobby anytime soon and has lots pl planned for the future.
He is planning on attending Tr T Truckfest, a special event for truckers.
Matthew said: “Truckfest is the p perfect e place for people like me who en enjoy n trucks and spotting trucks.
“I have been a few times and it is re really great. All the drivers are there an and I can see so many trucks and take p plenty of photos.
“I know most of the drivers just th through them messaging me asking m me to spot them so it will be good to go and meet them.
“I plan on keeping up this hobby u until I can drive then I hope to become a truck driver, that would be great.”
