It’s a family affair for fabulous fundraiser

A family in Shotts are getting together to raise money for two important charities.

Megan McNulty has organised a charity evening in support of the Brain Tumour Charity and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

That’s after her sister-in-law, Natalie Ross

King, recently survived a brain tumour - now the family want to give something back to the people who were there to help their loved one.

Natalie was first diagnosed with a tumour three years ago and regularly suffered from seizures with her quality of life massively affected.

After Natalie attended a scan in June this year, it was found that the tumour had continued to grow and that it was best to remove it.

Natalie was made aware of the risks involved with the procedure but made the decision to have the tumour removed.

Speaking to the Wishaw Press, Megan said: “Natalie was worried about getting the surgery as she was aware of the risks, but thanks to the amazing surgeons at QEH it all went well.

“Her eyesight has been slightly affected by the surgery but she is now living a much better quality of life.

“The aftercare Natalie is receiving has been outstanding and we couldn’t ask for anything more.

“That is why we want to be able to give back to the people who have made this all possible for Natalie and her family, they really have helped her.”

The pair have organised a charity event in Shotts next year that they hope will raise enough money to make a difference to both the Brain Tumour Charity and the team at QEH.

Taking place on January 29 at St Patrick’s Parish Centre, it is hoped that they can raise £2000 for the Brain Tumour Charity and £1000 for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Natalie said: “We will be raising vital funds for the Brain Tumour Charity by holding a white night charity event.

“The theme is a white night which means everyone has to dress in white. This is a really simple theme and it is also the theme

I had on my hen do.

“We will be selling tickets for £10 per person and holding a raffle and auction to raise as much money as possible.

“The Brain Tumour Charity receives no funding and relies on donations, so this money will be a massive help to them.

“We want to help overcome this awful disease and help people who have not been as lucky as me in their prognosis.”
