Kaiyne Woolery hopes Motherwell can shoot downDundeeonSaturday to make up for their League Cup exit at Dens Park earlier in the season.

The in-form Steelmen travel to the City of Discovery on Saturday looking to build on recent wins over Aberdeen and Hearts, and it will be the first time they’ve been back to Dens since the painful 1-0 defeat that ended their Premier Sports Cup campaign at the second round stage.

They did see off the Dark Blues at Fir Park in the league earlier in the season, but Woolery is keen to taste success in Dundee.

After helping his side to a 2-0 win at home to Hearts on Saturday, the forward said: “It’s good back-to-back wins against two big teams and we need to build on that now, but the three points are vital, because we want to make something of the season.

“We need to be getting at least a draw from those games, so we did well to get all three.

“We owe Dundee one as well, because they beat us in the Premier Sports Cup, so hopefully we can do the double in the league over them, and hopefully the triple later on.”

Woolery had a hand in Connor Shields’ opener against Hearts and was unlucky not to net himself after putting in a terrific performance against the Jambos, with Ricki Lamie wrapping up the points to keep Motherwell fifth in the Premiership.

With a forward line that has included Kevin van Veen and Jordan Roberts, as well as Shields and Tony Watt, Woolery says he needs to make the most of his opportunities to stay in the team.

The 26-year-old, who has netted twice this season, said: “The gaffer says I did well and that’s all that matters, but all the forwards are producing at the moment so it’s healthy competition.

“Training has been good, and it’s just that when you get the chance you’ve got to take it, at the moment.

“I enjoyed it out there. It was a very good performance from the whole team, everyone worked really hard.

“You could tell from our press that we really wanted it.

“We won the ball up top a lot of times and it just made it easier for the whole team, to be honest.

“I felt like we deserved the three points, that’s back-to-back wins now and we need to keep it going.”

Following Saturday’s clash with Dundee, Motherwell then host Dundee United on Tuesday night, kick-off 7.45pm.
