Pet pals boost for Chris’s House

-

A company which specialises in insurance for pet owners in Lanarkshire is going“buy the book”to help Chris’s House.

Hazel Irvine and Suzi Maule, who work at Clyde Insurance Claims, have launched a sale of literature in their waiting area to raise money for theWishawbased charity that provides 24-hours-a-day support for people in crisis.

The pet insurance specialists, who are located within ClydeVets in the town’s Main Street, decided to have a book sale for Chris’s House.

They chose the charity as both are aware of the fantastic help it offers to those in need.

The pair are well known to pet owners in the town as they’ve been working at the insurers for a combined total of 65 years.

Hazel told theWishaw Press:“We chose Chris’s House as it’s a local charity and does great work that we’re well aware of.

“Vets in general get a bit of a bad name for taking money from folk , so we felt it was really important to put something back into the local community in some way.

“Myself and Lisa, one of the vets, went round to Chris’s House and chatted to someone there and they told us all about the services, we just felt we could help out in some way.

“We’ve previously had charity tin collections, and Suzi organised a Macmillan tea a couple of years ago.

“This is the first thing we’ve done since Covid and we’re going to run it throughout the year, and we’ll also hold a bake sale later in the year to see how much we can raise.

“It’s going quite well so far. People are coming in and buying the books and donating more at the same time.”

So if you’re stuck for something new to read, why not pop in to ClydeVets at 301 Main Street, have a browse and see if anything catches your eye.

Anyone is welcome to drop in.
