Antonia’s home performanc­e

READING Haydn Choir will present a special musical event for its summer concert early next month.

The musicians will present a varied programme, including early music by Henry Purcell and William Byrd through opera choruses to Gilbert and Sullivan and Howard Goodall.

And they will also welcome Antonia Kesel and Edward Bale for a performanc­e of J S Bach’s Double Violin Concerto.

Born in Reading, Ms Kesel will welcome the opportunit­y to perform on home turf.

She graduated with First Class Honours from the Royal Academy of Music and now holds a Chamber Fellowship; she has won many prizes for her playing, including at the Malta Internatio­nal Music Competitio­n, a Countess of Munster Award and First Prize in the Verao Classico Festival in Portugal.

Edward Bale attended the Royal College of

Music, from where he graduated with an MMus in performanc­e studies at the same time achieving a BSc with Joint Honours in Physics and Music from Imperial College, London. He plays with both the English National Opera and the English Chamber Orchestra.

The Hayden Choir will be returning to Tilehurst Methodist Church in School Road on Saturday, July 1 for the concert. It starts at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £14 (Adults), £12 (Concession­s), £5 (Under 17s) and children under five are free. They can be obtained from rdghaydnch­oir@gmail.com, any choir member, or on the door. If you purchase in advance, there’s a discount of £1 per ticket.
