New divisions set up for next season

DIVISIONS for next season’s Thames Valley Premier League have now been confirmed.

A total of 58 teams will compete across five divisions of what used to be known as the Reading Football League.

Finchampst­ead, whose old first team from the Hellenic League have now folded, will compete in Division 1.

Meanwhile Reading YMCA will be seeking another Premier Division title after winning it without losing a game last term, with Wokingham and Emmbrook Reserves also participat­ing in that competitio­n.

The leagues will line-up as follows:

PREMIER DIVISION: Reading YMCA, Marlow United, Newbury, Woodcote Stoke Row, Cookham Dean, Mortimer, Wraysbury Village, Woodley United Res, Highmoor Ibis Res, Wright and Unity Sports, Berks County, Taplow United, Westwood United, Wokingham and Emmbrook Res.

DIVISION 1: Rotherfiel­d United, Hurst, Reading YMCA Rapids, Maidenhead Magpies, Eldon Celtic, Maidenhead Town, Frilsham and Yattendon, Imaan Lions, Cookham Dean Res, Burghfield, Westwood United Res, Finchampst­ead, Richings Park.

DIVISION 2: Mortimer Res, AFC Corinthian­s, White Eagles, Barkham Athletic, Woodcote Stoke Row Res, Berks County Res, Harchester Hawks, Newbury, South Reading, Marlow United Res, FC Woodley.

DIVISION 3: Wargrave, Goring United, Highmoor A, Taplow United Res, Maidenhead Town Res, Hurst Res, Woodley United A, Brimpton, Braybrooke, Henley Town Res.

DIVISION 4: White Eagles Res, Hurst A, Twyford and Ruscombe, Berks County Rovers, AFC Corinthian­s A, Woodley United B, Goring United Res, Taplow United A, The Hop Leaf, Harchester Hawks Res.

BINFIELD LADIES have been voted into the Thames Valley Counties Women’s Football League.

The newly formed Moles will have both an adult and Under-18 side competing from next season with the first team competing in Division 2 East against the likes of Ascot United, Holyport and Guildford Saints.
