Three in a row

-

BINFIELD sealed their third win in a row with a six-wicket success against Chalfont St Giles in Chilterns Division 1.

Still unbeaten and second in the league, Binfield lost the toss, but quickly set about making life difficult for the Chalfont batsmen.

A wicket apiece for Thomas Andrews and Tim Vines saw the visitors struggling at 12-2 and they failed to build up any momentum throughout.

Just three batsmen made it into double figures with Dan Heaney’s 19 the pick of the bunch as Chalfont collapsed to 100 all out.

Thomas Nower led the way with the ball, posting figures of 4-25 while Vines and Andrews took three and two wickets respectively.

And it was a fairly straightforward chase for Binfield.

Opener Sean Ennis fell for 15 but Chris Morgan’s 45 pushed them towards the winning post.

Steven Carson added 19 more runs to the total as the victory was sealed in less than 20 overs.

Binfield go to sixth-placed Braywood on Saturday.

It was a tough afternoon for the 2s as they were well beaten by Knotty Green.

Putting Knotty in to bat did not prove to be a wise call as they sprayed the ball around the ground before declaring on a monstrous 324-9 with Jonathan Patel’s 140 the stand-out score.

Kamal Gupta (3-69) and James Wright (3-48) were the pick of the Binfield bowlers.

There were some notable batting scores in reply with Steve Jeffery (35), Chris Halligan (47) and Wright (29) contributing well, but Binfield were bowled out for 173 in the 35th over.

Defeat sees them fall to sixth in the Division 2 table with a game against rock-bottom Coleshill to come on Saturday.
