Potter’s magic works its spell and gives Finch the win

-

TOM POTTER’S magical knock of 150 guided Finchampstead 3s to a comfortable win over Chiswick and Whitton in Division 3a.

Finches have had a mixed start to the campaign but produced arguably their most convincing display at the weekend.

And it was opener Potter who led the charge with 150 after Finches won the toss and opted to bat first.

Potter was not alone in hitting a century with Matt Eldridge reaching 103 not out as Finches reached 270-1 before declaring.

It was then all eyes on the bowlers to complete the job and Matt Harper was the star man, posting figures of 6-50 to help dismiss Chiswick for 189 to seal an 81-run success.

In the same division, WOKINGHAM 2s climbed up to third with a winning draw against Falkland 2s.

The Oaks produced a solid batting display with Anthony Clapham top scoring on 60 not out while Simon Carter (31),

Jack Fisher (37) and Ben Myles (43) all contributed well.

Having declared on 216-7, Falkland never looked like reaching the target but they held on for a draw, closing on 153-8 with John McDonald (4-40) the leading bowler.

WARGRAVE remain top of the table, despite a losing draw against Cove 2s.

Fine bowling from Jack Clark (5-36) and Razwan Hanif (3-64) helped dismiss Cove for 207 and Wargrave struggled to reach the target.

And it looked as though it could be a first defeat of the campaign against the new second-placed side, but they closed on 148-9 to cling on to a draw.

Mandip Sohi (39), Neal Robinson

(35) and Luke Taylor (26) top scored for Wargrave.

EVERSLEY climbed up to seventh in 2a with a seven-wicket win over struggling Harefield 2s.

Stuart Tidbury (4-21) and Andrew Niblett (4-26) caused Harefield all sorts of problems, bowling them out for 149.

And Niblett enjoyed a good day with the bat too, posting 52 not out while Saranya Madina (58) led the way to cruise over the winning line as early as the 24th over.

SONNING suffered a batting collapse as the slipped to the foot of 2b with defeat to Aldershot.

The Hampshire-based side made

190-8 before the end of their innings and Duncan Parr’s 32 in the reply was by the far the exception to a forgettable batting line-up as Sonning were bowled out for a mere 64 runs.

It was also a heavy defeat for HURST, going down by 95 runs to Beaconsfield.

Chasing 246 to win, Ruksham Sosa top scored with 50 as Hurst were dismissed for 150 in reply.

Mike Judd’s knock of 90 came in vain as EVERSLEY 2s lost to Beaconsfield 2s in 4a.

Judd and Stuart Collar (41) helped the Boars reach 178-8 before declaring, but Beaconsfield passed the winning post in the 47th over.

An impressive batting display from WOKINGHAM 3s helped them to a highscoring winning draw with Chiswick and Whitton 2s in 5b.

Edward Fox-Smith (94) and Gary Fleming (89) led the Oaks charge as they pushed all the way to 278 before declaring.

But bowling proved a far trickier task with Chiswick ticking along nicely themselves to close on 251-8 with

Cameron Gillespie (3-66) the pick of the bowlers.

Kam Hanif top scored with 49 for WARGRAVE 2s as they lost to Boyne Hill, bowled out for 140 as they chased 244 to win.
