Woodley Flower Club
MEMBERS, visitors and friends were amusingly entertained during the latest meeting of Woodley Flower Club on Tuesday, June 6, when professional flower arranger Jennifer Allan Thompson showed them some very interesting flower arrangements in her Greek Delights demonstration, based on her Greek origins and memories of that colourful island.
After an arrangement based on the Olympic flame and gold ring from the origin of the Olympics in Greece, Jennifer followed with interpretive arrangements that included the Mediterranean
Sea and Greek circular dancing – complete with the music of Zorba the Greek, ending with a blue and white arrangement based on the colours of the Greek National Flag.
The next Woodley Flower Club evening will be at the Coronation Hall on Tuesday, July 4, when Jilly Griffin from London will show her Off the Wall flower arrangements – a title already intriguing the Flower Club Members.
Woodley Flower Club meets at Coronation Hall, Headley Road, Woodley, on the first Tuesday of every month (except August), with flowers skilfully arranged by visiting demonstrators, then raffled.
It’s a very friendly club, who always make visitors very welcome. Short flower-arranging courses and outings to relevant places add even more to the interest. Demonstrations start 7.45pm, doors open 7pm – come early for a cuppa and a chat.
Club Members will be “On The Stage” in Woodley’s Oakford Centre on Saturday, July 1 – come and meet us!
