West Forest Townswomen’s Guild

-

MEMBERS of West Forest Townswomens’s Guild have enjoyed a variety of activities in the past two months. At the May meeting we had a talk by Amanda McLean about the Thames Valley Air Ambulance which we had already voted to be our charity of the year.

It was a very informative talk and we were all made aware of the vital life saving work carried out by this charity.

The speaker at our June meeting was Simon Jones, an auctioneer and valuer who spoke to us about the collection of items brought in by members.

These varied from dolls to vases, hat pins and

glassware and included some memorable pieces of jewellery. It was a very interesting talk and made us wonder what other antiques we had hidden away or thrown out.

Some members had enjoyed an excellent visit to Houghton Hall near Stockbridge and treated to a guided tour by the owner.

A group had been to Wokingham Theatre to see their production of Enron, which as usual was of a high standard. We look forward to their next production which will be Nell Gwyn.

On Ascot Ladies Day a group of ladies, clad in their fine attire, will once again be enjoying an afternoon tea with racing at Bearwood Lakes Golf Club.

A group of members will be going to the theatre in London to see 42nd Street in July.

The Social and Fund Raising Committee will be holding a two-course supper with quiz at Emmbrook Village Hall at the beginning of next month.

In addition, all the monthly activities have taken place. These are Scrabble, bridge, book club, coffee mornings, social studies, lunch club, needles and natter and film evening. Our July meeting will be a members’ meeting on the theme of holidays.

We meet on the third Monday of every month in Emmbrook Village Hall at 7.30 and new members are always welcome. Please contact Liz on 0118 978 3585 or Terry on 0118 978 4844 for further details. LIZ SHILHAM
