STUART BARRABLE’S fabulous knock of 160 for Twyford and Ruscombe was overshadowed by a season-ending injury to Emmbrook and Bearwood 2s skipper Sanjeev Jain.

Batting at three, captain Barrable came to the crease with Twyford 1-1 in this Division 2 encounter and put on an astonishing partnership with opener Robin Thompson to power the score along to 254-2.

Barrable fell for 160 off just 100 deliveries, smashing 27 fours and two sixes, while Thompson continued to end on 102 not out.

Kedar Patwardhan (4-39) was the pick of the bowlers.

Set a hefty target of 307 to win, Emmbrook were ticking along nicely at 59 without loss with Jain on 42 from 29 balls, including nine boundaries.

But the afternoon took a nasty turn when captain Jain was struck in the face off a Shiva Nagam delivery and due to the serious nature of the injury, the match was abandoned.

Jain was taken to hospital and has now been ruled out of the remainder of the campaign with a broken cheekbone.

As per league rules, the result officially went down as a Twyford victory.

In the same league, SHINFIELD sit top of the table after a convincing 135-run victory over WOODLEY 2s.

Batting first, Shinfield put Woodley’s bowlers to the sword with Suneet Basra hitting an unbeaten 101 while Anuraag Shukla (74) and Jay Deshmukh (55) also enjoyed success.

Chasing 323 for victory, Woodley did their best before being bowled out for 187 in the 43rd over as Rehaan Samdani took three wickets.

The pick of the home side’s batsmen was Pavan Naragund, who scored 47.

WALTHAM ST LAWRENCE remain unbeaten in second place after taking the lion’s share of the points against Hawley.

Fine knocks from Sree Venkata (66) and Zaheer Gujjar (49) helped Waltham to 235 all out.

But Hawley proved tough to tackle with Chris Waghorn (3-37) the leading bowler as the hosts closed on 196-5.

A six-wicket haul from Dan Finucane guided CROWTHORNE AND CROWN WOOD 2s to victory over Stratfield Turgis/Hartley Wespall.

Finucane’s figures of 6-18 as well as important contributions from Dan Crinnion (2-14) and Dan Partridge (2-20) set up the Crows as they bowled out their opponents for 101.

And the home side eased to a fivewicket win with Dave Shaw (50no) and Tom Nash (32) doing most of the damage. EARLEY’S bowlers had a day to remember as they thrashed Warfield at Bulmershe School.

Steven Mapes led the way with figures of 5-20 as the visitors were dismissed for a paltry 42.

And Earley cruised to a six-wicket win.

KNOWL HILL suffered a second defeat of the season, going down by eight wickets to Welford Park in Division 3.

Unbeaten before last week, Knowl lost again after setting a target of 196 to win with Anand Subramaniasamy (48) and Alexander Francis (34) top scoring.

And Welford made light work of the chase, winning after 36 overs.

Division 4 leaders SHINFIELD 2s lost their unbeaten record at the hands of Mortimer West End 2s.

Shinfield batted first, posting 233 before being bowled out with Arun Kumar (30), Kiran Alluri (71) and Shashi Reddy (34no) the leading scorers.

But Mortimer batted well, winning by four wickets with Kumar (3-42) the pick of the bowlers.

Half centuries from Colin Canty (57no) and Steve Andrews (53) earned

BINFIELD 3s a winning draw over

EMMBROOK AND BEARWOOD 3s.

Having lost every other match this season, the draw will be welcome for Binfield, who closed on 276-6 with Vineet Choumal (49) and James Sackley (45) also making notable contributions.

Chris Kingston’s 44 was the best Emmbrook could muster in reply as they settled for a draw, ending their innings on 157-6.

Brian Day’s three wickets were not enough for WALTHAM ST LAWRENCE

2s to avoid a 109-run defeat to Sulhamstead and Ufton 3s while CROWTHORNE AND CROWN WOOD 3s

lost to West Reading 3s by four wickets in the Bye Week Challenge.
