Last is first as Eversley see off Windsor

- By TOM CROCKER

CHRIS LAST contributed with bat and ball as Eversley completed a fine all-round display to see off Windsor by five wickets.

It’s been a mixed Division 2a season for the Boars with this just their third win so far.

Windsor made a solid start at Cross Green, reaching 40 without loss before two quick wickets from Rezaul Roni found the breakthrough.

Wickets continued to steadily tumble with Stuart Tidbury (3-29) the pick of the bowlers while Andrew Niblett and Last joined Roni on two wickets each.

Chasing 210 to win,

Eversley made light work of the job to win with five wickets in hand after good scores from Last (48),

Niblett (46), James Magowan (29) and unbeaten scores of 26 and 25 from Tom

Howorth and Peter Healy to see the win over the line.

Up in Division 1, it was another weekend to forget for FINCHAMPSTEAD 2s.

Still seeking a first victory of the campaign, a batting collapse ensured Finches would not be celebrating against Falkland.

Simon Bell’s 23 was the top score during a troubled innings which ended 95 all out.

And the hosts made fairly light work of the chase, losing five wickets with James Woodford (3-37) and Josh Lincoln (2-18) the pick of the bowlers.

Max Uttley made a rare Thames Valley appearance, dropping down from the first team, and posted economical figures of 0-23 off 12 overs with seven maidens along the way, but Falkland eased to victory.

HURST beat SONNING in a borough battle in 2b.

Despite a knock of 40 from Indeveer Sahota, Sonning were struggling until a vital unbeaten 41 from tail-ender Raja Rafaqat at least ensured the second innings would be competitive.

But Hurst were still in control after Floyd Na Nagara (4-41) and Alex Kayser (3-42) helped bowl out the visitors for 174.

Jason Pennisi took four wickets in reply, but Hurst eased to victory by three wickets after an unbeaten 50 from Usman Ijaz.

Down in 3a, James Eaglesham hit an unbeaten half century and also took three wickets as FINCHAMPSTEAD

3s beat Falkland 2s by four wickets.

Finches, who sit third in the table, were left chasing 174 to win after fine bowling from Eaglesham (3-45), Steve West (3-30) and Sam Taylor (3-54) saw Falkland’s innings end early.

And half centuries from Eaglesham (52no) and Chris Wroot (53) guided Finch to victory in the 40th over.

Leaders WARGRAVE had no game, allowing WOKINGHAM

2s to close the gap at the top to 13 points with a four-wicket win over Cove 2s.

Toby Barker was the pick of the Wokingham bowlers, posting figures of 5-46 to help bowl Cove out for 238.

Far from a straightforward chase, the Oaks patiently reached their total in the 46th over with Jack Fisher (79) and Ben Myles (66) top scoring. Matthew Martin’s 114 helped

EVERSLEY 2s to a tight win over Teddington Town in 4a.

Eversley, who remain at the foot of the table, finally broke their winless run at the eighth time of asking down in no small part to Martin’s knock.

The Boars batted first, closing on 273-9 with Richard Ford (40), James Berger-North (28) and Sam Glaze (28) also contributing.

But Teddington were also impressing with the bat before being bowled out for 246 with Glaze (3-53), Kevin Manning (336) and Robert Saunders (3-35) doing the most damage.
