Binfield stay on top

-

SEAN ENNIS struck 75 runs as Binfield preserved top spot in Division 1 of the Chilterns League.

Binfield moved up to first place last week and they stayed put after an exciting and highscoring win over White Waltham.

After winning the toss, skipper Mike Staves opted to bat first and opening duo Ennis and Chris Morgan got off to the perfect start before the latter fell for 45.

Ennis went on to reach 75 and with

Tim Vines (34), Mickey Reid (37) and Alex Jackson (42) in good form, the visitors reached a more than competitive 271 before being bowled out.

But White Waltham were ticking along well in reply, after recovering from a shaky start, with number six Ben Scarborough adding 99 runs to the total.

However, from 188-7, White Waltham fell to 244 all out, 27 runs short, with Vines (4-32) the pick of the bowlers while Jackson, Jack Collett and Staves picked up two wickets each.

BINFIELD 2s are in the promotion spots of Division 2 following an eight-wicket success against Amersham Hill.

Just five points separate second to fifth in a tight table, but Binfield are currently top of that bunch.

Fine bowling from James Wright (3-6) and Matthew Nicholls (3-16) saw Amersham dismissed for 132.

And the hosts eased to victory with Kamal Gupta’s unbeaten 52 the stand-out display.
