Sumas reserves slip to fourth defeat
ELLIOTT RUSHFORTH’S goal could not prevent a fourth defeat of the season for Wokingham and Emmbrook Reserves.
With the Sumas first team not in action, a few players dropped down to pick up some game time for the reserves, but they came out on the wrong side of a 2-1 loss to Berks County.
The hosts took an early lead at John Nike Stadium when Mike Shields netted and they sealed the win in the
87th minute courtesy of Lewis Way’s effort, despite Rushforth finding the net. WOODLEY UNITED ROYALS
still have just one win to their name after a 5-2 home loss against Woodcote Stoke Row with Sam Guze netting both of Woodley’s goals.
Some of the lower divisions also kicked off with HURST losing 3-0 at Frilsham and Yattendon and
FINCHAMPSTEAD falling to a 2-0 reverse at Richings Park in Division 1.
Daniel Adkins’ goal earned a 1-1 draw for HARCHESTER HAWKS at AFC CORINTHIANS in Division 2, for whom Daniel Huggins netted, while Richard Cumner’s strike earned all three points for Berks County Reserves at HURST RESERVES.
The Reading Sunday League also got underway with results including a 6-1 defeat for
WOODLEY UNITED, despite a fine goal from Arran Wells, and
SHINFIELD RANGERS thrashing Sanctuary Strikers 15-2 in Division 4.
