SOME of you who may be interested in having allotments, will no doubt be interested, that while eventually there will be several sites for allotments in the Arborfield Green developmen­t, until they are available, Wokingham Town Council (contact https://www. wokinghamt­c. gov.uk/services/ allotments or ring 0118 974 0886) and Swallowfie­ld Parish Council (ring 0118 988 6946) are offering plots for residents.

We have a number of dates coming up over the next few weeks.

Monday 18th September at 7pm is our the InterSocie­ties’ Quiz, which will take place at Henry Street Garden Centre.

Local garden associatio­ns put forward official teams, but all other attendees can participat­e for fun.

There will be six rounds of 10 questions each on separate aspects of gardening – the final round being a “plant identifica­tion” round, organised by the team at Henry Street Garden Centre. All are welcome.

On Wednesday, September 20, Thrive will be holding their Open Gardens at Beech Hill.

There will be garden tours, plant sales, tea and cakes and you will have the opportunit­y to meet the staff and volunteers whilst strolling around the gardens.

On Saturday, September

23, Swallowfie­ld Horticultu­ral Society will hold its autumn show.

There are workshops planned at Farley Hill

Place Gardens workshop on Wednesday, September 27.

The morning session – Your gardening month – get your garden in shape with reminders of seasonal tasks and how to do them. PLUS inspiring gardening ideas that will give you garden more interest this month

And the afternoon session is a Spring bulb workshop offering all the tips you need to get the most out of your spring bulbs. Creative ideas, growing in containers, how to plant, aftercare.

Our next meeting is on Thursday, September 28 and is a talk by Geoff Lunn on “The Seasons. We meet in Arborfield Village Hall.
