Council seeks views on future Wokingham borough spending

-

We asked how you think the council could save money. Here are some of your replies:

It’s a bit of a shopping list, but don’t ask, don’t get:

1. More traffic cones, there aren’t nearly enough particularly in the town centre

2. More parking meters – it is too cheap to park in the town. This must be rectified.

3. Removal of green space – there is still far too much green space in Wokingham and I won’t be happy until it is all built upon.

4. Linked to number three – we should formally unify Bracknell and Wokingham given there is no space between the two – so some money must be set aside for new signs and rebranding.

5. Buy a 4x4 for every household. In the long run this will be cheaper than repairing the pot holes that have amassed in the roads.

6. Scrap the blue bin bags, and ask householders to throw their rubbish in the street. It will save foxes and other vermin a job. Ian Waddell, Facebook

Can we have more housing please? There are still some green verges that haven’t been built on in Emmbrook Michael Geeves, via Facebook

Stop paying the ‘fat cats’ that work in the offices and contractors who are costing £300-500 day!!! Jo Marston, via Facebook Advertising all the vacancies. Strategic planning officer. Really need one before it’s too late. Highways manager., Housing crisis officer. So many jobs available as we don’t appear to have any qualified staff in the council. Would really appreciate someone from the town that knows all the roads and the amount of traffic that uses them every day, not just school holidays. Susan Chatteron, via Facebook

Oooh! I’ve got a good joke ... spend hundreds of thousands of pounds on a consultant to assess whether you can build all over land you yourselves have already designated as greenbelt and said you won’t build on. Oh. Jane Barker, via Facebook Sack the planning committee so no more houses are built Karen Connor, via Facebook
