We’re Strictly rooting for you in the final

DEBBIE McGEE and her dance partner Giovanni Pernice are preparing to give their all for their last dance: the couple will be taking part in this Saturday’s Strictly Come Dancing final.

Over the past 12 weeks, the BBC Radio Berkshire presenter has wowed the nation with a series of amazing dances, some of which have scored perfect 10s from the four judges.

This weekend, they will battle it out with three other couples to see who will be crowned the best of the series and scoop the coveted Glitterball trophy.

Each celebrity will perform a dance picked by the Judges, a brand new Showdance and a previous routine of their choice.

For Debbie and Giovanni, the judges have chosen a salsa to Can’t Take My Eyes Off You by Boys Town Gang.

Their showdance will be One Day I’ll Fly Away by Vaults.

It’s a busy week for Debbie: not only is she preparing for the Strictly final, but the talented dancer is also in rehearsals for pantomime: she is appearing in Beauty and the Beast in York this festive season.

In a tweet to her dancing partner earlier this week, Debbie said: “Yes it really is a DREAM

COME TRUE to be dancing in the BBC strictly final and with you. I’m tingling with excitement already. To our voters THANK YOU for making our dream come true.”

At the beginning of the series, Debbie revealed that her previous training as a ballet dancer counted for nothing.

“I’ve never had any experience in this type of dancing, but I learnt ballet and modern tap when I was a child and I did dance for a few years but that was 35 years ago, so now it’s like starting from scratch.”

She also said: “I haven’t really been thinking about how far I’ll get, I just hope I get through for a decent amount of time and I’m not the first or second to go. I would love to get through to Blackpool and Hallowe’en is my birthday so I would love to still be in the show then.”

On Saturday night, while the judges will mark each dance, it is the viewers who decide who will win the trophy.

The phone lines will open once every couple has performed their first routine and the viewers will get the opportunity to vote for their favourite couple or couples. The phone lines will close later that night.
