Ask lots of questions. At the party last weekend, one of my friends commented how it was nice to just have a good vent and chat with someone else other than his partner or a colleague. I asked lots of questions and I know for sure that asking questions will help you too.

Get rid of distractions. How would you feel if you are chatting with someone and they are constantly checking their phone or watching the TV in the background? Be present and try to filter out the distractions. It may help you hear or see something you would otherwise miss.

Look the other person in the eyes when talking with them. Eye contact can help show the other person that you really are truly listening.

At Christmas, wouldn’t it be nice to really communicate well with the people you love and care about?

Wouldn’t it be nice for your relative to feel listened to when telling you about their night of bingo you have already heard about 10 times?

Imagine how your child will feel when they see that they are more important to you on Christmas Day compared to the latest post on Facebook or Snapchat?

When your relative who you have not seen for months tells you about how their 2017 has worked out, wouldn’t it be nice for you to listen with excellence and ask them lots of questions to find out more?

Trust me… improve your communication skills and improve your relationships.

I hope this week’s article has highlighted the importance of communication and how you can use it to good effect.

In the words of Dan Oswald – Communication must be HOT. That’s HONEST, OPEN and TWO WAY.

Communication to a relationship is like oxygen to life. Without it, it dies.

So quickly on to this week’s homework. This week I want you to pick a scenario and use all the tactics I have mentioned to your advantage… those tactics could just make someone’s day. Happy Thursday, now go and communicate :) P.S. ONLY 11 DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS… YESSSSSSS!
