Charity has helped more than 7,000 with divorce
A WOKINGHAM-based charity has celebrated helping more than 7,000 people in the UK and many more across the world.
Divorce Recovery Workshop was launched 26 years ago and helps people overcome the trauma of divorce and separation.
National chair John Kemp from Wokingham said: “We’re delighted DRW has helped over 7,000 people now. New branches are starting in Sussex and Birmingham and in 2019 one is restarting in Basingstoke.
“We’ve also helped DRW start in other countries including New Zealand, Canada, South Africa and India, giving advice and sending materials. The UK DRW has come a long way since its launch at Berkshire College of Agriculture near Maidenhead in 1992 and we’re justly proud of our achievements.”
People continuing DRW’s UK work gathered at Brookside Hall in Earley last Saturday. They shared best practice and new developments at their annual conference.
Mr Kemp said: “Our website has been completely rebuilt with many new features which we hope will help those seeking help.
“People interested in workshops can now go to You Tube links on the website and see short extracts of the videos we show at our course’s sessions.
“After watching a video we split into small groups to discuss the content. Everything is kept confidential.”
There’s still time to sign up for the next DRW course at Brookside Hall, Earley, Reading on April 6, 7, 13 and 14. It is for everyone regardless of when the break up was or if the couple were married.
The complete course consists of sessions on two Friday evenings and two Saturdays during the day. A small charge covers costs.
