What benefits can you get?

-

YOU can check if you can get benefits, including disability benefits, at your nearest Citizens Advice. Otherwise you can use online benefit calculators.

If you’re over 18 you can use the ‘Turn2us’ (bit.ly/wokt2uben) or ‘Entitledto’ (bit.ly/wokento) benefit calculators to check which benefits you might get.

Before you start you will need information about savings, income, pension, childcare payments and any existing benefits (for you and your partner).

However, these calculators won’t work if you’re under 18, and you won’t get an accurate and detailed calculation if you’re: A student Not a British or Irish citizen On strike Living outside the UK

Living permanently in residential care or a nursing home

A prisoner If you’re not a British, Irish or EEA citizen you can use the online Support for migrant families tool (bit.ly/woksmft) if you want to find out what benefits and other help you can get and:

You’re responsible for children under 18

Your visa says “no recourse to public funds” or you’re subject to immigration control

Your results will be more accurate if you know your immigration status.

If you’re trying to cut your spending, or are having trouble keeping up with payments and need help with bills and budgeting, see our advice on getting help with bills (bit.ly/ wokbillhelp).

Use our budgeting tool (bit. ly/wokbudget) to see exactly where your money goes each month.

For other benefit issues, such as making claims, challenging decisions, dealing with overpayments, being accused of fraud or wanting to make a complaint you can contact your local Citizens Advice.

You can get help, information and advice from your local Citizens Advice or visit www. citizensadvicewokingham. org.uk or contact Citizens Advice Wokingham at
