With a wealth of great local artists coming out of Wokingham, Reading, Guildford, and beyond, we thought we’d delve into four artists worth your attention!

Mellor

The Brit-pop influenced rock band from Reading have gained a cult following locally, know from their electric live shows, breakneck riffs, and a rhythm section to knock you to your knees.

They released their latest

EP, collating their most recent material, and probably their best songs to date, this year.

Opener ‘Fire on Fire’ will send you into a whirlwind of memorable lyrics and pounding drums, before running straight into live favourite ‘Bone Idle’. Mellor’s EP is available in store now.

Local acoustic artist Vicki Sayers will draw you in by her brilliant lyricsm and mesmerising guitar lines. Already getting people’s attention for her songs such as ‘Wise Guy’ and ‘Rolling Stone’, both featured on her EP ‘Rolling Stone’, she played for us at Record Store Day this year, to an enthusiastic audience.

‘Rolling Stone EP’ is available in store now.

The Amazons

Perhaps the biggest success story to come out of Reading is alt-rock band, The Amazons. Playing countless live shows since they were teenagers, their single ‘In My Mind’ thrust them into national attention, being signed and releasing their eponymous album last year.

Their upcoming EP features live performances from The Hexagon in Reading and The Forum in London. With songs like ‘Ultraviolet’, and ‘Junk Food Forever’ sure to win you over with their heavy riffs and singalong choruses, it’s only a matter of time before their your new favourite band.

‘The Amazons’ is available in store, and online at beyondthedownload.uk

Vinyl Staircase

Headlining our first BTD Presents show back in March, psych rock band, Vinyl Staircase, certainly gained new fans that night, and are sure to only grow, thanks to tracks like ‘Cherry’, ‘Last I Heard’, and their must-see live show.

Last week they sold out The Boileroom in Guildford as well as having several high profile support slots in London. These guys are only going up, so make sure to grab their EP ‘Cherry’, and catch them live in an intimate venue whilst you’ve still got the chance! ‘Cherry EP’ is available in store now.
