Debbie is new president of Lady Taveners

A WARGRAVE woman is to become the new president of one of the most prestigious charity groups in the country.

Debbie McGee, who presents a weekly programme on BBC Radio Berkshire on Sunday mornings, will succeed Lesley Garrett CBE in the role for the Lady Taverners association.

She said: “I am immensely proud to be the President of the Lady Taverners and to support the fantastic work to enhance the lives of disadvantaged and disabled young people through sport and recreation. I am honoured to follow in the footsteps of all the great Presidents before me, including Lesley Garrett, who served with such distinction.”

Debbie has been a fixture on our television screens since the 1980s, originally as assistant and wife to magician Paul Daniels and latterly as a finalist in Strictly Come Dancing. She is also a member of The Magic Circle.
